Brilliant Colorful Fall Foliage Of Tennessee
A few weeks ago my husband came home and said he wanted to take a long weekend to go up to Tennessee to see the fall foliage. I was all for that idea. We rented a cabin in Sevierville by Volunteer Cabin Rentals. Our journey began on a Sunday. There were 6 of us in a mini-van (husband, myself, mother-in-law, daughter, son and son’s friend) heading out on this 11 hour drive.
Adventures On The Road
Lunch Break
One thing I like to do when taking a long road trip is to pack up a cooler so we can stop at a rest area for lunch. It is cheap, family fun and you get to stretch your legs a bit. The drive was long and un-eventful (means no accidents) which is a good thing.
Cheap Gas
When we left Florida gas was $3.05 per gallon. In Tennessee it was a whopping $2.74!
Kids Will Be Kids 🙂
First thing the boys did when we arrived to the cabin was to figure out how to get on the roof for the ultimate photo. Didn’t take much to convince the sister 🙂

Sunrise
Didn’t take much to get me on the roof the next morning to catch the sunrise. It was a beautiful morning. After climbing down from the roof, eating some breakfast and packing our lunches we headed out to Cades Cove.
Cades Cove
If you have never been to Cades Cove you definitely should go. Cades Cove is an 11-mile, one-way loop road that contains the widest variety of historic buildings (1818 – 1830). You should allow at least 2 – 4 hours. More if you plan on exploring some of the trails (especially to Abrams Falls).

Abrams Falls
Stopped along our way to hike Abrams Falls (5mile round trip).

Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail
Another must visit is the Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail which is a one-way 5.5 mile loop where you can explore a variety of hiking trails, waterfalls, and three homesteads. It was getting late so I was only able to get a photo of this one homestead.
Ramsey Cascades
If you are into hiking then the 8-mile round trip hike to Ramsey Cascades is another must. The first 1.5 miles is moderate. The last 2.5 is very strenuous but well worth it in the end. This will take up most of your day. Pack a lunch and plenty of water.

Beautiful View As We Head Back
The leaves were glowing gold. It was such a magical moment.
The END 🙂
Such a pretty place! Your photos are all lovely and capture the feeling of the area very well.
