Artistic Results With LensBaby Sweet 35
Over the years I would come across these beautiful photographs with dreamy effects. Which left me wondering how the artist achieved this dreamy effect with their photographs. Found out that they were using a LensBaby Sweet 35. Which is just one of the many lenses (Sweet, Edge, Velvet, Swirl, OMNI & Obscura) from a company called LensBaby. There were mixed reviews concerning the LensBaby lenses. Some photographers absolutely loved their LensBaby and others had a love/hate relationship with their LensBaby. The thing with the LensBaby is that it is completely manual. One thing they all recommended is that you just need to practice and to not give up.
After much research I finally settled on Composer Pro Sweet 35 Optic. Added this to my Christmas list and my wonderful husband bought it for me. A week ago I finally took it out of its box determined to give it a try. Completely understand what the other photographers were talking about when they said they had a love/hate relationship. I shot solely with the LensBaby for 8 days straight. Each time I did I felt a bit more comfortable using it.
My Nine Attempts At Using The LensBaby Sweet 35
First Attempt
One thing I did learn during the process is that you need to lock your cameras mirror up when shooting in low light situations while camera is attached to the tripod. You will see in my first attempt that I did not do that 🙂

Second Attempt
Rolled up my blue work out mat and set it against a white background.

Third Attempt
Took a rim off a mason jar and set it behind glass bottle laying on its side.

Fourth Attempt
Dropped food coloring into a wine glass full of water.

Fifth Attempt
Couldn’t pass up taking a photo of my little girl’s puppy dog eyes.
Sixth Attempt
Lobby of a hotel.

Seventh Attempt
While sitting in the lobby of the hotel I took photo of my backpack sitting on table.

Eighth Attempt
While walking around downtown Orlando I took this photo of Orlando Ferris Wheel.

Ninth Attempt
Trying my hand at a little bit of food photography. Looks yummy!
