One Head Shot Three Edits

As I go through my online course, PhotoArtistic Life with Sebastian Michaels, I periodically take a break to try some of the techniques learned.  I call this series “One Head Shot Three Edits”.  The head shot is one I took of myself with my IPhone.  I processed the head shot three different ways using the images from my ever growing arsenal.  My arsenal consists of images I have taken and the ones provided by Sebastian Michaels through the course.

AWAKE members Teodora Taneva and Teddi (aka FoxeySquirrel) are my inspiration behind this series.  Most noteworthy about these women is their editing styles are vastly different.  Teodora’s art leans towards dark and surreal.  Plus, she uses self portraits in her work.  While Teddi’s art leans towards fun and whimsical.  After I saw Teodora and Tedd’s art I decided to take a break and have some fun.

Mother Nature

For this piece, I chose an earthy background.  Built a head piece of flowers and a collar of leaves.  Continued adding collage elements that had something to do with nature.  To ensure all elements blended cohesively, I placed the initial background on top and set the blend mode to Overlay.

Crazy Hair

Crazy Hair was a lot of fun to put together.  I grabbed pieces that I liked and changed the blend to get the feel I wanted.  As for the crazy hair, it was created from a photo I took of my Shih Tzu’s tail.  The end result looks like I was channeling Phyllis Diller.

My version of Grunge Graffiti.  Decided to go with a high contrast black and white look with a splash of color.
