Creative Selfies

I have always been creative with my selfie since the day I created an Instagram account in May 2013.  Did not realize how many creative selfies I had taken/processed over the years until I went through my archive the other day.  The selfies were all taken with my IPhone and processed with variety of photo editing IPhone apps.  Some were free while others cost a small fee.  Unfortunately, some of my favorite apps I used in the beginning do not exist anymore.

Following is a few of the apps I currently still have on my phone

At the time I started experimenting with layers and blend modes with the photo editing apps I did not realize that was considered digital art.  All I knew, I was having fun creating weird images with my selfie.  I shared my edited seflies on Instagram for a variety of challenges, in addition to sharing with other like minded creatives.

Editing Selfie with Photo Editing Apps on IPhone

Below is a composite of some of my selfies I took since 2013 and processed using my photo editing IPhone apps.

Editing Selfie with Photoshop CC

At his stage in my creative journey I am using my phone less and less for my artistic outlet.  My tool of choice for practicing layers and blend modes is Photoshop CC.  Below is my first selfie that I have edited using Photoshop CC.  This one is titled “Lady In The Mask“.

Creative Selfies ~ Photoshop CC

I took my selfie with my IPhone but did all the editing in Photoshop CC.  As I am going through the Photo Artistry and AWAKE Course with Sebastian Michaels, he is always demonstrating various techniques on models at his disposal.  Unfortunately, I do not have a model at my disposal.  Because of that, I end up being the ModeI.  In this edit I used a variety of overlays, created some of my own brushes for some added interest, in addition, to using some collage elements provided through the Photo Artistry course.

The Beauty of taking a Selfie

The beauty of taking a selfie, you will never be at a loss for a model when the creative urge strikes.  In addition, taking a selfie is free while a model will cost you.  So next time when you want to experiment on a model and you do not have one handy.  Just take a selfie and get creative.  In the near future I am going to take selfies with my Nikon D300s to give my self some added challenges.  While I may be using my phone less for my creative selfies as I embark on learning all that Photoshop has to offer.  There will be times that I will not have access to photoshop, but I will still have my phone when the creative urge strikes.

I encourage you to get out there, take a selfie and go wild with your creativity!

Thank you so much for stopping by so I can share with you my artistic journey.

Happy Creating,

Bec
